VILLA GARDEN - HILVERSUM
This stately villa in Hilversum was built at the beginning of the 20th century. Studio-B-Gardens has made a garden design for the existing outdoor space, in which the characteristics of the architecture are continued in the outdoor space.
In the existing situation, the outdoor space showed little relationship with the architecture of the villa, was jaded and had an abrupt decline of 1.25 meters at the rear. In addition, on the north side of the garden was a piece of garden with a garage which had no relationship with the rest of the outdoor space and was a junk zone.
The redesign consisted of creating a stronger relationship between house and garden, by emphasizing the difference in height in a generous and monumental brick staircase (s). By raising the ground level at the backside of the house everywhere, the house is positioned better and fits in its environment.
The existing junk zone with a garage was given a different function and turned into a fully-fledged new part of the garden as an outdoor kitchen with garden and terrace. And finally the view axis lines from the house into the garden where emphasized a stronger link with the garden itself.
All this was executed with respect for the existing mature tree structure, creating a garden that exudes the grandeur of an old mature villa garden.
